Melvin Alick’s deep love for music was evident from his very early years as a toddler. He could always be heard beating combs on pots, pans or anything that could make some kind of sound. This musical inclination grew and grew until at the age of nine, his first musical mentor Bruce Lynch taught him how to play his first groove on the drum kit….in fifteen minutes lol! Those fifteen minutes turned out to be the beginning of a long journey for Melvin, which has brought him to where he is today.

As he grew older and developed his skills, he soon became a requested young drummer in Barbados. Melvin’s musical exploits have garnered him the opportunity to play in all of the island’s major musical festivals (Congaline, Crop Over, Jazz Festival, Gospel Fest and The Pan Festival) and tour, record and perform with some of the top musicians and artistes from Barbados including:  Hal Linton, David Kirton, Livvi Franc, David "Ziggy" Walcott, Elan Trotman, Paula Hinds, Mya Daniel, Promise, Shane Forrester, AJA, Toni Norville, Betty Payne, Red Plastic Bag, Biggie Irie and Marissa Lindsay, just to name a few.

Melvin has had the wonderful privilege of performing and/or touring with some of the Caribbean's biggest recording artistes including Sean Paul, Shaggy, Beenie Man, Tarrus Riley, Chris Martin, Chevelle Franklyn, Carlene Davis, Junior Tucker, Jason Mighty, Ryan Mark, Stitchie, Positive, Liam Teague, Ken 'The Professor' Philmore, Rupee, David Rudder, Black Stalin, De Baron, Alison Hinds, Patrice Roberts, Farmer Nappy, Kerwin Dubois, Olatunji and many others.

Over the years, his musical reach has also extended beyond Caribbean shores and has given him the distinct pleasure of accompanying musical legends such as Patti Labelle, Ralph McDonald and two of Britain's most iconic performers, John Lodge (of the Moody Blues) and the incomparable, Sir Cliff Richard. Most recently, he also had the esteemed honour of performing with two Grammy award-winning artistes, Lalah Hathaway and Trumpeter Maurice Brown, Lilly McCloud (US X-Factor finalist), legendary percussionist Bashiri Johnson, American Idol winner Candace Glover, smooth jazz saxophonist Michael Lington, Afro-Beat artistes Mr. Eazi and Afro B, and Billboard chart-toppers, Pitbull, OMI, Ashanti, Teddy Riley, Blackstreet and Shalamar.

To date, Melvin's travels across the globe have seen him appear at a number of festivals including: Ottawa Blues Fest, Reggae On The River Music Festival & The Bob Marley Music Festival (both in California), The Toronto Beaches Jazz Festival, Bequia Music Festival, Cayman Islands Jazz Festival, St. Lucia Jazz Festival, Tobago Jazz Festival, The Jamaica Blues & Jazz Festival and many more.

He has also established himself as one of Barbados' premier studio drummers, playing on records for various artistes and producers across many genres including Gospel, Pop, Pop/rock, Reggae, Contemporary Jazz/Instrumental, R&B, Hip Hop and Soca. His well regarded musical opinion has also seen him appointed from

2010-2018 as a judge in Barbados' premier soca music competition, The Sweet Soca & Party Monarch Finals. Melvin is also a drum tutor, both privately and at Notes Of Praise Music School in Barbados.

Within the last several years, Melvin has had the distinct pleasure of touring and performing with two of the Caribbean's most celebrated and decorated musicans, Arturo Tappin and Nicholas Brancker. At the moment,  he is touring with Soca music icons, Spice & Company and Machel Montano.

Melvin continues to demonstrate a real love and passion for music, and certainly intends to continue developing his musical skills and talents to become one of the best musicians the region has produced and the world has seen.
